The Miraluka are a sightless near-human race of Force Sensitives. Miraluka have vestigial eyes which they usually bind with a hood or mask and 'see' through the Force. Miraluka lived on the planets Alpherides and later Katarr which was obliterated by Darth Nihilius.
Physiology and Culture
In almost every respect, Miraluka are identical to baseline humans except for that whole eye thing. Miraluka have vestigial or occasionally non-existent eyes. While they often avoided attention, the formal sashes which they bound their eyeless gaze were a distinctive sight.
In the Old Republic, Miraluka were often members of the Jedi Order and somewhat less frequently Sith. Because their senses were based in the Force, they were often drawn to the reverberating power of the Jedi traditions. When Darth Nihilius consumed all life on the planet Katarr, Miraluka ceased to be a significant galactic presence.
Role in LotJ
Miraluka's intense connection with the Living Force and lack of sight profoundly affect their outlook. They have no interest in personal advancement or accolades. Their physical appearance is of lesser importance than their spiritual well-being. Miraluka strive to perfect their skills and are always focused on their goals. Even when they do not become active Force practitioners, they draw their guidance from intuition and instinct borne of their connection to life around them.
Miraluka can speak Galactic Basic.
