A planet of treacherous jungles and beautiful waterways, Manda'yaim was first inhabited by the Taung after being driven off of Coruscant by the united forces that would form the Republic. Forced to settle due in part to a horrendous starship crash (ironically, the same starship that would become their main base), the Taung named their new home after their leader, Te Sol'yc Mand'alor. From there, they launched a campaign that claimed several nearby planets including Nim Drovis and Ryloth under the banner of Te Akaan'ade, the army of the Taung. Te Akaan'ade remained stable for a time, but eventually their already low numbers began to dwindle down due to war and anti-Taung resistance groups. After the death of Te Sol'yc Mand'alor aboard the Jewel of the Nal, it was decided that soldiers from other races would be inducted to reinforce their numbers. From this, Te Akaan'ade reformed into the Mandalorian Empire, a name given to forever honor the sacrifices of their fallen leader; the Mandalorians were born. Allying themselves with their long time rivals, the Sith, the Mandalorians were once more a feared and respected presence in the Galaxy. A great series of battles took place between the new allies and the Jedi-Allied Republic, resulting in devastating losses on both sides, and during the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorians became scattered, Manda'yaim once more nearly deserted.
